Geothermal Technicians

Geothermal technicians work with equipment that taps into heat stored in the earth to generate electricity or provide heating and cooling for buildings. They install, maintain, and repair geothermal wells, pipes, pumps, and other related equipment. They require a moderate background in the geosciences, and their duties may include:

  • Assisting in locating sites where geothermal energy can be harnessed.

  • Drilling and digging to create or expand geothermal wells.

  • Installing, testing, monitoring, and maintaining geothermal systems. This may include collecting and analyzing data to ensure system efficiency.

  • Working with other technicians, engineers, and scientists to optimize the system’s performance.
