Educator Resources

The resources on this page are intended to help teachers and counselors guide students in their use of this website to learn about geoscience-related careers.

Introducing students to geoscience careers during their middle and high school years is crucial for cultivating the next generation of scientists and innovators. The geosciences encompass a diverse array of careers, from studying Earth’s processes and resources to tackling environmental challenges and advancing sustainable solutions. By sparking interest early, we can inspire students to pursue these rewarding paths, contributing to a future where our planet is better understood and cared for.

Career Explorer Guides

Start with the Sustainability Interactive Guide. Research shows that students are increasingly interested in pursuing careers that help people and the environment, however, students may not be aware of the range of global issues that exist. Also, students may feel discouraged or overwhelmed by the sheer number and complexity of global challenges. AGI’s Sustainability Interactive was created as a way for students to consider global concerns in the context of real-world scenarios. Each scenario is broken down into components so that students can consider what specific issues they are most concerned about.

Then use AGI’s Career Explorer Guide to help students explore geoscience careers related to their interests and global issues about which they are concerned, as defined by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
