Terrazzo workers and finishers are responsible for installing and finishing terrazzo flooring systems, which are made up of cemented materials, fine aggregates, and marble chips, all of which are made from natural resources extracted from the Earth. Their work involves a variety of geoscience-related tasks, including:

  • Creating a demand for the extraction of resources, which are located and sourced by workers in the geosciences.

  • Knowing the properties of cements that are appropriate for different locations and climates, as well as how to prepare them and how long they take to set.

  • Using specialized equipment to grind, polish, cut, shape, and seal the surface of terrazzo to design and protect it. These steps ensure that natural resources are used efficiently in sustainable infrastructure.

  • Being involved in repairing and restoring existing terrazzo floors to reduce the demand for more supplies.
