Intelligence Analysts

Intelligence analysts in the geosciences are responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to Earth’s systems and processes. They may work with a variety of sources of information, including satellite imagery, remote sensing data, field observations, and numerical model output. They require a moderate background in the geosciences to be involved in:

  • Studying the behavior of the Earth system, including topics such as climate change, natural hazards, water resources, and environmental degradation.

  • Understanding how Earth’s systems are impacted by human activities.

  • Working as part of a team with other scientists and specialists to solve complex problems and make informed decisions.
