Career/Technical Education Teachers, Postsecondary

Career and technical education teachers in the geosciences are responsible for teaching students about various aspects of earth science and related fields. They may teach classes on how topics such as geology, oceanography, meteorology, environmental science, and others relate to a specific technical career. They require a moderate to extensive background in the geosciences, and often are responsible for:

  • Developing lesson plans, lectures, and projects to help students understand complex concepts.

  • Evaluating student performance through assessments and providing feedback.

  • Advising students on aspects of specific careers and course selections that meet the educational requirements of those careers.

  • Conducting experiments or collecting data, and sometimes collaborating with scientists or researchers.

  • Supervising student research projects or internships.
