Education Teachers, Postsecondary

Education teachers are responsible for teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. They play a critical role in training the next generation of K-12 science teachers. Their work may involve geoscience-related tasks, such as:

  • Advising pre-service teachers in creating lesson plans, laboratory experiments, and assessments for Earth science classes.

  • Giving feedback to preservice teachers regarding their teaching practices, especially during their student teaching experience.

  • Conducting educational research on the best practices to be used in K-12 science classrooms and publishing their findings in scientific or educational journals.

  • Participating in professional development activities and conferences to stay up-to-date on advances in teaching practices in the sciences.
