Transportation Planners

Transportation planners are responsible for developing and implementing transportation plans that take into account the physical characteristics of the landscape, such as topography, climate, and geology. They may be involved in a variety of geoscience-related tasks, including:

  • Collecting and analyzing data on traffic patterns, population growth, and land use to identify transportation needs.

  • Developing plans for new roads, bridges, or other transportation infrastructure that take into account the surrounding environment.

  • Working with engineers and other professionals to design and implement transportation solutions that are safe, efficient, and sustainable.

  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the implemented transportation solutions and their environmental impacts.
