made from precious stones and metals. They may work in a variety of
settings, including jewelry stores, repair shops, manufacturing
facilities, design studios where they create custom pieces, or museums
or archaeological sites. They require a moderate background in the
geosciences, especially mineralogy and gemology. Their work typically
involves:

Knowing the properties of a variety of materials and how to cut,
polish, fuse, and solder them. This often includes gold, silver,
diamonds, and other gems.
